Stacey began begging her family for piano lessons the day the local piano teacher visited her school in rural Saskatchewan. She was 7 then, and hasn’t looked back since. She began teaching (piano) at the age of 15, earned her ARCT in Piano Performance from the Royal Conservatory of Music (Toronto) at the age of 17, moved to Montreal and began a new instrument (harp) at the age of 19 while simultaneously studying Political Science and Philosophy, and was accepted into the McGill Faculty of Music a mere year and a half later. Stacey was awarded her Undergraduate Degree in Harp Performance with high distinction in 2002.
Since a cycling accident in her early twenties, Stacey has focussed on teaching, a decision that has proved immensely rewarding.
When she retires from teaching music—though she doubts this will ever happen—Stacey would like to move to Holland and open a small homemade ice-cream shop along the canals of Amsterdam. Or perhaps start a professional shadow theatre company on the banks of the Seine. She figures she still has a few years to decide.
