Canada Music WeekMD was established in 1960 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Canadian Federation of Music Teachers’ Associations. The event was so successful that the following year, the CFMTA Executive decided to turn it into an annual celebration of Canadian music.
The objectives of CMW include creating public awareness of Canadian music, supporting Canadian composers and artists, familiarizing young Canadians with contemporary music, and encouraging music teachers to expand their knowledge of Canadian repertoire.
In 2020, Canada Music Week® will celebrate its 60th anniversary. To mark this event, the QMTA has opted to replace our usual recital and gala with an entirely virtual event: The QMTA Canada Music Week e-Festival.
November 21 @ 23:59 (11:59 p.m.): registration deadline. CLOSED
November 22-27: an adjudicator will view and evaluate the video submissions and choose the standout performances.
November 28: The selected video submissions will be uploaded to the QMTA’s YouTube channel and/or its Facebook page.

Our last "Beginner-Intermediate" meeting took place on June 14, via Zoom. It was such a pleasure! We raised our glasses to wish the Club a long life.
Teachers invite their adult students at the home of a host, to an informal gathering where they can perform the repertoire of their choice in a friendly atmosphere.
There are two clubs: (1) Beginners & Intermediate performers; (2) Advanced performers (Grade 8 RCM and up).
Admission is free. Guests each bring a plate to share to eat after the recital.
Participants must be comprised exclusively of friend members or students of current active or provisional QMTA members.
Reservation is required.
