Joel has been teaching private guitar lessons, classes, and clinics for students of all ages and skill levels since 2014. From 2019-2020, he was on staff at New York University as an adjunct guitar instructor. Joel currently teaches privately in Montréal and has taught privately and at various music studios in New York City and Calgary, Alberta, where he is from. In Alberta, Joel was a jazz guitar clinician at music festivals and workshops including the Vic Lewis Band Festival, Banff Music Retreats, Westwinds Music Society, Central Memorial High School, Western Canada High School, and William Aberhart High School. Joel has enjoyed teaching a variety of students: from children as young as four years old to adults into their seventies in jazz, classical, and popular musical styles.

 

Joel earned his Master of Music in Jazz Guitar Performance from New York University in 2020 and his Bachelor of Music from Ambrose University in Calgary in 2018. His most recent album, Facing Paradise, was released in July 2021 and features his trio in New York city.
