Bio
The Montreal-based pianist Mengjie Xiong holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Piano Performance from the University of Toronto. Before her doctoral studies, she completed her Bachelor’s and Master's degrees at McGill University. Mengjie enjoys performing at various venues including concerts, competitions and festivals. She was placed in the top category in competitions including the Concours du Festival de musique classique de Montréal, Concours de l’Association des professeurs de musique du Québec, World Piano Competition and Burgos International Music Festival Competition.
Besides performing, Mengjie is a passionate and dedicated piano teacher. Her teaching aims to help students of all ages and levels to develop a comprehensive understanding of music that guides them to play the piano with enjoyment and musicality. In addition to teaching in her own piano studio, she has taught in several music institutions including the Piano Pedagogy Program of the University of Toronto, McGill Music Conservatory, and Académie de musique de Ste-Dorothée.
