MCMF Music Writing Competition

 1. The whole composition, including the accompaniment if applicable, must be the original work of the competitor whose name appears on the application form.

2. A maximum of three compositions may be submitted, if the total performance does not exceed the time limit.

3. Before the performance, competitors must supply the jury with a copy of their manuscript, including all instrumental parts, and necessary details of dynamic, editing, and tempo. Manuscripts should be neat and legibly printed by hand or by computer, in black ink, in regulation manuscript size with every 10th bar numbered.

4. Competitor may wish to play their compositions, and/or hire all players and accompanists required, at their own expense.

5. Compositions will be judged on their merit, and not on the interpretation or the technical skills of the players.

6. Prize-winning compositions will be submitted by the jury to the CFMTA Student Composer Competition
